Scotrenewables Tidal Power Ltd.
The SR2000 Tidal Turbine Fabrication Project took place inside Harland & Wolff’s Musgrave Blocking Shop commencing in September 2014 with scheduled completion of January 2016. At all stages of the fabrication of the device, safety of all persons on site was absolutely paramount. The project comprised the fabrication, fit out and assembly of the turbines components, with the underside of the structure approximately 6m from ground level and access on the top at approximately 10m from ground level. Advanced Scaffolding NI provided multiple access points, confined space inertia winch retrieval systems as well providing double skinned, monoflex encapsulated habitats to permit blasting and painting activities on site and innovative solutions to complex access requirements that were posed by the unique design of our device.
Advanced Scaffolding NI not only met, but exceeded expectations when it came to providing safe access solutions for the project. Additionally their impeccable work ethic and conscientious attitude towards Health and Safety, coupled with a ‘can do’ attitude to provide us with immediate, innovative and cost effective scaffold solutions, has played significant part in the successful delivery of the overall project to date.
Robbie, Paul and their team have been extremely professional and also very approachable and easy to work with for the duration of the project. I personally would recommend Advanced Scaffolding NI as one of the most accommodating subcontractors I have worked with in just over 13 years in the construction industry.
We where employed by Gareth at We Are Vertigo to come up with a solution to cover a vast amount of wall area to make it look more appealing for his customers as possible and incorporate advertisement for his company. This would be the biggest seamless indoor banner we have erected to date and are very proud of this as we took control of the frame work, printing and installation.
Access Restrictions: We had a lot of input to the planning of deliveries and collections of materials to site as we had limited access to the front of the site with DOE restrictions in place and Bus stop live from 6.00am to 11.00pm. All our works needed to be done on night shift or Sundays and we needed to have two men on the ground at all times to ensure no one moved or tried to gain access through the barriers.
We are privileged to work on such an iconic project in Belfast, This was very interesting project and very tight for space. We had a lot of input with the main contractor with regards to delivery/collection and erection/dismantle procedures on the site to minimise the disruption to traffic and contact with the public. We feel that the planning of a job like this is of the upmost importance as we do with every job we take on.
We where proud to be part of this project with Farrans on a labour only basis to scaffold a new school in the Hillingdon area of London. We where faced with many challenges along the way one being ties into the building we needed the scaffolding to be free standing. The project was within budget and finished on program due to the planning from the beginning. We look forward to working with Farrans again on the next project.
McLaughlin & Harvey wanted us to scaffold the bank for pointing and replacing stones to the front elevation and chimneys. All the work was done out of hours so we minimise contact with the public as this is a busy Main Street. We look forward to the next project with McLaughlin & Harvey.
We are very pleased to be involved with this project our job was to erect safe working platform every 2m and erect a temporary roof over the top of the turbine to enable shot blasting and painting to be done safely. With our engineer we where able to accommodate everyone's needs on site.

ADVANCED NI Scaffolding Ltd builds scaffolds with two objectives in mind. The first is to protect all those who set foot on our scaffolds and the second is to use our experience and expertise to save our clients time and money. Through strategic planning we can provide a design package for all scaffold erections that fall outside the scope of “basic scaffolds” which is detailed within NASC guidance TG20:13.
We support all our designs with the appropriate site specific drawings (AutoCAD) and design calculations.
Scaffold Inspections
Scaffolds require regular inspections to check they are safe to use. We have experienced people trained in advanced scaffold inspection and we employ the scafftag system.
At ADVANCED NI Scaffolding Ltd, safety is our main priority. We strive to continually adopt and adapt working practices to not only meet, but exceed the requirements of the latest legislation. We openly share our health and safety information and expertise with our clients, and work with them to improve all round performance. As part of this we have implemented a complete Safety Management System to help ensure that the company is fully aware of the continuously changing requirements of the industry. Tusker Demolition employed ADVANCED NI Scaffolding Ltd to erect scaffolding to all external elevations of this sensitive project as this is in the city centre of Belfast. Advanced NI Scaffolding had the scaffolding designed by HTW. Myself and our engineer come up against a number if issues with regards to the tie patterns changing or simply not working. One in particular was we needed to fix into the main structure of the building but we needed to drill through a brick cladding first to reach this. We could not get the required loads from single ties as we normally would so we needed to double up on ties to each location. Mona Flex was fitted to all elevations and fans to certain sections for protection to the public. All scaffolding was finished on program and within budget for the client.

We worked very close with the main client McLaughlin and Harvey to get a temporary structure erected to hold the site accommodation above a sub station as the site is so tight for space. I contacted Layher regarding this project after a couple of site meetings we come up with a design that suited everyone involved with the project.

We have a maintenance/shutdown contract with Veolia for all scaffolding works required on site. It is our guarantee that we have men on site within the hour to respond to any call out day or night. This project is really tricked at times due to the complex structures that are required and the amount of obstructions we come up against on a daily basis. Safety is of the highest order with the equipment and training required to work on projects like this.

We are proud to be working on the restoration of the historic HMS Caroline. Docked in Belfast the famous warship which was the only surviving vessel from the Battle of Jutland, is to be restored and opened as a museum for the centenary commemorations of the Battle.
We where employed by Blu Marine to carry out temporary roof and tuff coat over the exterior to cover the forward and aft end of the vessel for painting and removal of the old timber deck.

River House in Belfast is a 14 storey office building Advanced NI Scaffolding were tasked to erect scaffold to front and rear of building. With the information supplied from MAC engineers we designed a bespoke scaffolding system using Layher Scaffolding to transfer the weight to ring beams due to a low loading capacity.
Advanced NI Scaffolding used the advanced versatile Layher Scaffolding system on this project due to the safety and speed that the Scaffolding can be erected whilst working to SG415 standards as set out within NASC guidance notes. The versatility of the Layher system compared to traditional tube and fitting or Kwickstage helped us to deliver the project on time and on budget.
We worked closely with Layher design team to come up with a bespoke Scaffolding design to meet the individual needs of this project.

A new £30M facility to provide 74 acute mental health beds, including 6 psychiatric intensive care beds to replace the current inpatient provision for greater Belfast.
This was a challenging project for a number of reasons, not least the sensitivity of the site in that it was a live hospital environment, and disruption had to be kept to a minimum.
ADNI successfully worked with Grahams to keep the project on budget, and to the highest safety standards. We have erected a number of heavy duty loading bays in various different sizes throughout the project to gain access with plant and machinery in difficult areas. All temporary works were carried out by ANIS, and the project is on schedule, due to the early planning and expertise of Grahams and ANIS.
